Forever Maryland was founded to promote and advance land conservation statewide through education, advocacy, and outreach.

Our Mission

Forever Maryland promotes and supports the land conservation community, through education, advocacy, and outreach, to permanently protect working landscapes and healthy ecosystems for all.

Our Vision

Forever Maryland envisions a future where all Maryland’s lands and waters – mountain forest to ocean beaches, rural farms to city parks, sweeping rivers to tidal bays – are actively conserved, restored, stewarded, appreciated, and enjoyed by all Marylanders, including historically under-resourced communities.

Our Diversity Statement

Forever Maryland is dedicated to the conservation of our state’s land, water, wildlife, and other natural values – values that can be experienced and cherished by everyone and will sustain healthy, vibrant, and economically resilient communities. Racism, injustice, and exclusion must never be found in or advantaged by our work. The principles of equality, justice, and inclusion should guide us all and will be honored by Forever Maryland.

Our Central Role

Forever Maryland brings together many organizations, land trusts and individuals to ensure that open spaces are permanently protected, benefiting our community, our environment, our economy and our children. With a statewide perspective, Forever Maryland encourages collaborative ventures intended to increase the organized capacity of conservation-focused entities and individuals to help sustain a high quality of life for those who live, work, and raise their families in Maryland.  Forever Maryland’s helps ensure that Marylanders and those who visit Maryland will find a place where nature and natural resources are cherished for their aesthetic, economic, recreational, and health-related values. Forever Maryland encourages more people than ever to participate in conservation endeavors via a spectrum of outdoor activities – in urban, suburban, and rural settings.

It’s time to open wider and render more accessible opportunities for caring citizens and organizations to engage in conservation, expand outreach, forge new relationships, and ensure that Maryland’s natural resources will be protected and preserved for generations to come.
